These #lovinglately lists are one of my favorite things to read on blogs so I thought I’d round up some of the things I’ve been super enjoying this month. I’ll post these monthly or every couple months and share one item per category below (food, podcast, audiobook, book, drink, health, fashun and misc) that I’ve been low-key obsessed with recently.
Food – Elemental Superfood Bar
I’m a notorious snacker and grazer and always have something in my bag that I can eat. I’ve been loving the green elemental superfood bars (mulberry, spirulina and cacao flavored). The ingredient list is super clean and full of vitamins and antioxidants. They really tide me over in-between meals and even though they taste like dessert I feel good about fueling my body with such a nutrient packed treat.
Podcast – Armchair Expert with Dax Shephard
I’ve always loved Dax Shepherd (hi Without a Paddle + Parenthood), and his podcast has not disappointed! It’s been around for a little while, but I just found it and have been listening nonstop. His guests range from Katie Couric to Zac Braff (who he oddly not only resembles but also sounds like) and they are nice long episodes (usually 1hr+). There’s nothing I love more than discovering a new pod and this has quickly become one of my favs.
Audiobook – The Woman in the Window, A.J. Finn
I cannot believe a psychological thriller is making my #lovinglately list, but this one was sooooooooo good! I have a hyperactive imagination and can’t watch suspenseful movies because I’ll have nightmares for weeks, but somehow I am able to tolerate (ok more than tolerate…become completely obsessed with) thriller audiobooks. If you like this genre, go download this now. And get ready to binge listen.
Dr. Gokani is a headache specialist who focuses on combining traditional western headache medicine with Ayurveda and integrative medicine. When I heard her speak at the 2018 Migraine World Summit, I was so excited to listen to a board certified neurologist discuss treating migraine in such a holistic and comprehensive way. I blew through her book in two days and was fascinated by her experience with and protocol for addressing chronic migraine. She has a private clinic in Chicago where she sees patients. If you’re feeling hopeless or stuck, this is a wonderful book to give you the power to take some of your care into your own hands.
Drink – Pure Inventions Coconut Water Enhancer
I love Pure Inventions extracts and have used their nighttime tea blend before, but recently tried the Coconut Water and it’s become my new favorite! The fresh and mildly sweet taste of coconut makes it feel like a treat, and it’s free of sugar, calories, artificial colors and artificial sweeteners (sweetened with stevia). I look forward to a big mason jar of this with ice every afternoon and it makes hydrating effortless.
Health – Tone It Up (TIU) Daily Moves
Losing my ability to exercise the way I used to has been one of the most difficult things to let go of as a result of chronic illness. As someone who used running as an emotional and physical outlet, feeling my body’s strength and endurance decrease has been difficult. I am beyond thrilled to share that I have very slowly been able to incorporate some home workouts and the TIU Daily Moves has been one of my favorite resources. Although a lot of the exercises are still a little too aerobic and triggering for me, I can modify and therefore actually do them! I like that these are new every day, short and sweet (and free). I get a huge emotional boost when I am able to do even one set of each exercise and it has made me feel more like my old self than I have in years.
Fashun – Arizona Birks
I wore Birkenstocks with my high school uniform and never imagined myself choosing independently to rock them again. But for the past few weeks I have been doing just that, and I am loving them!! Whether sporting the birks + socks combo or wearing them barefoot, I seem to continually be grabbing for them over any other shoe. So goes the #fashunlife.
Miscellaneous must have – Citrus Bliss Doterra Oil
When I was introduced to Doterra essential oils, this oil was described to me as “the one you can’t not be happy while smelling”. And, it’s true! This sweet citrus scent instantly puts me in a good mood. It smells like an orange creamsicle and has been my absolute favorite to diffuse in the mornings lately to set the tone for my day.
I share each step along my road to wellness and healing and hope that in doing so I can inspire you along your own path. Thank you so much for being here.
